The Tigers are only four points adrift of the top six with eight games remaining, starting with a home game against Millwall a week on Saturday and ending with a last-day trip to Bristol City on May 7.
Barmby said: "A few of the lads are carrying slight injuries, so it's nice to have this break. It will give us a chance to come back rejuvenated and ready for the next game. We've got to keep plugging away and keep our own house in order.
"It's exciting at the moment and as long as we stay in touch, it's all up for grabs."
Barmby struck his seventh goal of the season to rescue a point in Saturday's 1-1 draw against Norwich.
He added: "Considering results elsewhere it was a point gained, but the lads were disappointed because we believed we could have won the game."
