Niall Hickman and John Wragg who also join popular speculation that City will be relegated have named Bruce as the first casualty of the Premiership campaign. Other managers such as Chris Hughton of Norwich, Alan Pardew at Newcastle and Mark Hughes at Stoke are also running the gauntlet.of casualties tipped for first out.
Steve Bruce has a “Cycular” reputation according to media sources that follow a repetitious order with Birmingham City being the longest position held
- Starts of Ok and over achieves expectation at first.
- Hits a tactical brick wall and things start to unravel
- A consensus of failing confidence throughout the club resulting in the collapse of successful management.
Hull City’s Assem Allam has put the trust in Steve to deliver a successful football club and so far Stage one is going to plan. City fans are upbeat about our preparations although an underlying nervousness prevails due to less than overwhelming performances during pre season friendlies and also the lacklustre behind the scenes activity in securing preferred and first choice new signings.
As with the controversial name change from Hull City to Hull City Tigers, we have seen that Allam is a hard headed businessman who is focused on what he wants and the financial progress of our club which would indicate that if Bruce is not up to expectation, Allam has demonstrated he has the cold hearted decision making abilities to change him at the first instance of Hull City failing to reach the expectation of Premiership survival.
Steve Bruce has endeared himself to both the club and also the fans over the last season and also made club history by achieving automatic promotion within the allotted amount of league games so let’s hope that this will come into consideration when judging Bruce in times of hardship which we are going to experience in the forthcoming season.
With 9 new signings including one highly rated international keeper in McGregor in addition to the backbone of an existing City squad I think we have just enough wherewithal to scramble clear of the trapdoor come the end of the season and hopefully we will also escape the circus that surrounds speculative managerial sackings which only adds negativity to a squad when already facing an uphill struggle.
I Don’t think City will bag a sack full of goals this season but we are capable of keeping them out looking at the defensive situation. Competing with the top 8 teams will be out of the question tactically and if we sneak a result then all the better but if City use the bottom half of the table as its own mini league after 7 or 8 games and look to finish in the top half of it then Bruce will have done a very good job in securing the foundations for a bigger and better platform on which build while at the same time, proving to the Allams he has got what it takes and proving Hickman and Wragg wrong to doubt him.
Onward and upward,
