Duke goes to the League Two side looking to play his first league game in over 10 months.

The 28-year-old Sheffield-born keeper was brought in by Peter Taylor from Burton Albion for £20,000 last summer as Boaz Myhill's understudy. Burton would be due another £40,000 if Duke makes enough appearances for City, but that looks unlikely going on his first season with the club, starting once and coming off the bench once in the league as well as two cup appearances.

He now has another goalkeeper to contend with after Sergio Leite's signing this summer, and may not even be able to force his way into the reserve team.

His move to Chester gives him a chance of first team football. Manager Keith Curle was hoping to play him in last night's friendly win over Airbus UK but couldn't wrap up the deal in time. Chris MacKenzie is his only other option between the sticks for Saturday's league kick-off away to Peterborough.

Adam Pearson explained the news: "Obviously Boaz is our number and Leite looks like being Peter Taylor's number two, so he needs to go out and get playing first-team football.
"The deal will initially be for a month and then possibly for a more long-term period if he does well."

Elsewhere, Nottingham Forest have signed former City target Danny Cullip from Sheffield United. He's moved for an undisclosed fee.
