After capturing 24-year-old Andy Dawson from Scunthorpe, Taylor hailed him as one of the best left-backs outside of the Premiership and said: "He's an excellent footballer and I'm really pleased to get him."
Meanwhile, Tranmere's Richard Hinds is another player Taylor is set to bring to the Kingston Communications Stadium.
He said: "I think that's as good as done. I think he will be joining us. We have agreed everything with him and his agent and listening to them I am very hopeful we will be getting him."
22-year-old Hinds is a versatile player who has started over 50 games for the Prenton Park club in the last four years after coming through their youth system. Although primarily a centre back, he is capable of playing in a variety of positions including central midfield and right-back. The Sheffield-born youngster is out of contract this summer, and is set to join Tranmere team-mate Jason Price in Hull next season.
Elsewhere, John McDermott says he is hopeful of signing a new two-year deal with Grimsby after a move to City fell through.
