He said prior to the Scunthorpe game: "There are some times when a big striker might be a decent option for us.
"And if we feel we need that for certain matches, then we'll bring someone in because we may as well go for it now."
Michael Reddy and Dean Windass are thought to be the wanted men.
Sunderland striker Reddy scored four goals in five appearances for the Tigers while on loan earlier in the season, but has been suffering from a hamstring injury, and his lack of fitness could prevent a move.
Windass played almost 200 times in a four year spell under Terry Dolan, including the 93/94 season when he netted 24 times. 'Deano' - who can play either in midfield or in attack - has struggled to keep down a first team place this season at Middlesbrough, and has often said of his desire to return to Hull. Pearson says that there is a good chance he could join on loan until the end of the season, though he isn't in the running for the manager's job because "he's got a lot of years left in him as a player."
If a deal can't be sorted for either of those players then City may look elsewhere to sign someone before transfer deadline day on Thursday 21st March.
