Cobblers For Ex-Tigers

The Cobblers are competing with Colchester United for Michael Branch's signature. The forward - who scored 3 goals in 6 games while on loan at Boothferry Park last season - has been released by Wolves, and says he wants to find a new club as soon as possible.

"It's just a case of looking at what's on the table and making a decision. I'm hoping to get something sorted by July 3rd so I can start pre-season training."

Northampton are also being linked with Michael Reddy. The Irish forward isn't thought to be part of Mick McCarthy's plans at Sunderland, and spent spells on loan at York and Sheffield Wednesday last season, having previously scored 4 goals in 5 games for City in 2001. Wednesday are hoping to take Reddy back to Hillsborough, but Northampton - who already have three ex-Tigers in the form of Lawrie Dudfield, Chris Hargreaves and Martin Reeves - are also after the 23-year-old as they look to bounce straight back to Division 2.

Meanwhile, Peterborough manager Barry Fry has placed a £750,000 price-tag on striker Leon McKenzie in an effort to keep the 25-year-old in his ranks. Tigers boss Peter Taylor has previously admitted to being interested in the player, but is unlikely to make a move until the end of the season when he's out of contract, if at all.
