Taylor has said he will sign a new centre back before the start of the season, and that Coles is one of a few he may go for.
Bristol City chairman Steve Lansdown says no offer has been received as yet, but if a bid comes in the club will consider it.
He told the Western Daily Press: "Danny Coles is a Bristol City player and he is part of our future.
"We get clubs asking about different players all the time and some result in us considering a possible move. If someone comes in with a significant offer then of course we have to consider it.
"But we have not had any contact about Danny Coles so there is nothing to say about it."
Bristol-born Coles has been almost ever present for the Robins over the last three seasons, and has made 180 appearances since making his league debut in April 2000.
