The 24-year-old Bohemians attacker was top-scorer in the Eircom League last year, and is continuing his goal-scoring form this season.
Carlisle, Luton and City have been rumoured to be interested in signing the former Wolves striker. The Tigers' interest has now been confirmed by Chairman Adam Pearson.
"Crowe is someone we are interested in but he definitely hasn't signed. He's one of a number of options we are looking at for next season and we plan to watch him this Friday night, along with several other Irish-based players.
"It's too early to say whether anything will develop but if we decide to take things further, then it will probably be during the summer."
Crowe - who has previously been selected for the Republic of Ireland squad - is our of contract at the end of the season so he will be available on a free transfer.
Midfielder Kevin Hunt, also of Bohemians, is also rumoured to be attracting City's attention. He will be on show when City's scouts pay visit to Dalymount Park on Friday for their game with UCD.
