Dawson was forced out of last week's win at Coventry just before half-time due to a head wound that required stitches.
Jack Hobbs, on loan from Leicester, replaced Dawson but is likely to make way again.
Goalkeeper Vito Mannone, on loan from Arsenal, is still struggling with a thigh injury similar to the one that sidelined him throughout January and February so Aston Villa's Brad Guzan will retain his place.
Manager Nigel Pearson has no new injury or suspension problems and is unlikely to make any changes as his side chase only their third win in nine home league matches.
