The defender signed from Manchester United last week and was thrown straight in at the deep end as the Tigers beat Barnsley 2-0.
"I absolutely loved my first match as a Hull City player," he told the club`s official website.
"I think that it took me 10-15 minutes to settle in and get used to the pace of the game - I was absolutely blowing at first.
"I hadn't played in many games since the start of December, so obviously I can only get stronger in terms of match fitness.
"I wasn`t sure that I would be starting the game so soon after signing for the club, but I just did my best in training to prove myself. The manager pulled me in on Friday morning and asked if I was ready to start to which I obviously said yes."
