The defender injured his right ankle in a training ground accident on Thursday. This morning's scans show that he has ruptured the lateral ligament complex, the deltoid ligament, the capsule around the ankle joint and a smaller joint at the top of the ankle joint. He must now wear a protective boot for six weeks and won't be back in action until mid-November.
It's the first major injury the 25-year-old has suffered. He's been almost ever present since joining City in October 2002, clocking up 175 appearances in under 4 years.
However, Phil Parkinson does have some positive news on the injury front. Midfielder David Livermore, who went off in the 81st minute of his City debut on Saturday with a broken nose, will be available for selection at Ipswich this week. Mark Yeates is also fit to join up with the squad, and could make his first appearance since joining on a season-long loan from Spurs.
Meanwhile, chairman Adam Pearson says that "there have been no bids or approaches" for Stuart Elliott, who has been linked with a £400,000 transfer to Leicester or Birmingham.
