The forward is currently out of the first team picture at City, and so has joined Northampton on loan. The Cobblers are currently bottom of the Second Division, but are only three points away from safety.
22-year-old Dudfield returns closer to his Southwark hometown to get some first team football. He has only found the net once this season, struggling with his form and fitness. Last year he got 14 in all competitions after making his record £250,000 move from Leicester.
With Daniel Webb on loan at Lincoln and Gary Bradshaw having his contract terminated, Stuart Elliott, Phil Jevons and Clayton Donaldson are the only backup forwards now at the club.
