The 32-year-old was selected for the PFA's Division 3 team of the season, voted for by fellow professionals.

He made 21 appearances in the league for York City, helping them in their push for the play-offs despite financial problems. In January he returned to Hull - where he started his league career 12 years ago - and has so far made 15 appearances, keeping Paul Musselwhite out of the team.

The other ten chosen players were predominantly from the three promotion winning sides. Paul Underwood and Paul Hall represented league leaders Rushden & Diamonds. Hartlepool centre backs Graeme Lee and Chris Westwood were joined by team-mates Richie Humphreys and Mark Tinkler. Third-placed Wrexham see top scorer Andy Morrell and defender Carlos Edwards in the team. Torquay midfielder Alex Russell and Cambridge striker Dave Kitson complete the eleven.

Meanwhile, Arsenal's Thierry Henry was named Player of the Year at the awards ceremony, and Newcastle's Jermaine Jenas picked up the Young Player of the Year trophy.
