The Tigers have not been beaten in their last five away league matches following Saturday's 2-2 draw at Middlesbrough, where Gerrard, on loan from Cardiff, struck his first goal for the club.
Gerrard said: "It's all about momentum and progression and I think we're moving in the right direction.
"It's maybe not been as quick as we'd like it to be and three points on Saturday would have helped but we'll take a point because it's a tough place to go and it was played in tough conditions."
Gerrard, cousin of England skipper Steven, added: "It was nice to get a goal myself. It's only rare because goalkeepers and defenders keep blocking my shots!
"If it wasn't for them I'd have a lot more goals in my career."
