It was feared the Northern Ireland goalkeeper could be out for a few weeks, but Peter Taylor reveals he is optimistic his number 1 could return before then.
"The X-rays on Alan's knee did show a slight crack but a specialist has had a good look and assured us it's nothing to worrying about. There's no break or ligament damage.
"It's definitely good news. Alan is feeling a lot better and he's making good progress. It's difficult to say how long he will be out but hopefully it shouldn't be as long as we first thought."
He also said that he won't gamble and send Michel Kuipers back to Brighton before the end of his month-long loan.
Meanwhile, Ryan Williams has returned to training after having his tonsils removed, and Marc Joseph is making progress with the knee injury that has ruled him out of City's last two matches. But neither player are expected to be involved in the game at Doncaster Rovers on Monday.
