"Some people might be surprised by my move. It's nothing to do with the way the team started the season, but I want regular first team football and I want to play centre half.
"I don't think I could have achieved either of those things at Hull City any more.
"When the squad numbers were handed out, I was hurt when I was given 23. I was looking a bit higher up the list than that. To be honest, it felt like an insult.
"To be fair to the manager, he can't have rated me as a centre half because he'd brought in Greg [Strong] and John [Anderson] during the summer and he was obviously going to play them ahead of me.
"With all respect, I think I'm as good as them but I don't think I'd been given a chance to prove that."

He said: "It's a new club, a new challenge and one I think I needed. I could have sat on the bench at City for the rest of my contract and picked up my money but anyone who knows me knows I'm not like that.
"At the end of the day, it's not about money. It's not an issue. I'm 27 now - 28 in January - and I just want to play in the position I enjoy the most."
He added: "It's not been an easy decision, but I'm confident I've made the right one."
