The 25-year-old - who was a Hull City player between 1997-99 - was given his marching orders by referee Mr Prosser for bringing down Tigers forward Danny Allsopp in the 67th minute. He now faces a three match ban for being shown a straight red card.
But Hocking feels he was harshly done by and may appeal the decision.
He said: "At the time I was a little shocked to be sent straight off and I haven't changed my opinion after watching the video.
"I think we just collided with each other when he came past me.
"The incident was a bit of a blur because everything happened so quickly but it certainly wasn't something that I consciously did on purpose.
"I know the fact we were then down to 10 men had a big impact on the game and that is something I need to think about."
City won the game 2-1 thanks to a last minute Stuart Green goal, but the celebrations were marred by an incident outside the ground afterwards when an estimated £10,000-worth of damage was inflicted on Boston supporters' buses.
