Suspicions arose when Simon Walton was chosen ahead of Livermore to fill in for the sick Ian Ashbee in Tuesday's game against Coventry, with the former Millwall player not even making the bench.
He's now joined Oldham on a month's loan. Both clubs have reported it is for an "initial" month, suggesting the loan could be extended or even made permanent.
This news leaves City in even more need of defensive cover. Although Livermore has always operated in midfield for City, he has played many games in defence previously in his career. Defenders Damien Delaney and Sam Collins have also left during the transfer window and utility man Simon Walton is the only outfield player to have signed.
