In Marshall's 11th game on loan from West Brom, he had to be stretchered off in the 12th minute following a challenge from Kidderminster defender Scott Stamps. After being taken to hospital, the extent of the injury is revealed to be a compound fracture of the fibula and tibia in his right shin.
Such an injury would leave the defender sidelined for the rest of the season. However, if there is muscle damage as well he could be out for longer or even face the threat of his career being over. More information on just how bad the injury is is expected this week, but it is not expected he will appear in a Hull City shirt again before his loan deal finishes at the end of April.
The transfer deadline has passed so City won't be able to bring in a replacement, but fortunately they do already have a number of backups. With Andy Dawson nearing a comeback and Marc Joseph's recovery from a groin injury, Peter Taylor can move Richard Hinds or Alton Thelwell along the backline to the right. Scott Wiseman is also an option after coming off the bench to make his debut in place of Marshall at Kidderminster.
