"I thought the lad had something for a 19-year-old. He had pace and strength and you need strength in the Third Division.
"We'll have a word with the people at Leeds and take it from there. Our chairman has close connections with Leeds and that's how the trial came about.
"He is one of the youngsters Leeds don't feel is going to be quite good enough for them. We might get him to train with us for a week but he definitely made a good first impression."
Johnson can play on the wing or up front, and would probably fit in well as backup for Dudfield and Elliott.
