Hull City manager Nigel Pearson has refused to close the door on winger Peter Halmosi's career at the club. The Hungarian international, 31, has not played for the Tigers' first team since May 2009 but was on the bench for Saturday's 2-0 win over Bristol City.

Pearson told BBC Humberside: "He's not played an active part but it would be foolish of me to say 'that's the end of it' because things do change.

"We'll see whether there's a longer-term future, but you never know."

He added: "The onus is always on players who have been out of contention to go about their training in the right way and if they are selected and they get an opportunity then they take it.

"He had one or two opportunities in pre-season but I felt that when the competitive games came along that there were other options that were better for the side."

Halmosi joined Hull from Plymouth in the summer of 2008 but has only made 12 first-team starts after making a big impact in the Championship with the Devon club.
