Hull City have been criticised by Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson over their handling of defender Daniel Ayala's loan spell at the KC Stadium.Ayala, 20, has returned to Liverpool after picking up a hamstring injury that will sideline him until January.
"I was disappointed to read that he's returned to his parent club through injury," Hodgson told Liverpool's official club website.
"He has returned because we're not prepared to loan him to Hull anymore."
"We wanted to bring him back for the last three weeks of 2010 to get him fit, because he wasn't fit there, and to cover Jamie Carragher," Hodgson added.
His injury has been exacerbated by going back to Hull City
Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson
"Hull totally refused and said, 'No, under the loan agreement he's here until 1 January and we're not prepared to allow him to go back'."
Prior to his absence, the Spaniard was a key figure in a back-line that one of the best defensive records in the Championship.
However, Hodgson feels the injury was mismanaged by the Tigers.
"With the treatment he has been given there his injury has now been aggravated," he said.
"Our fitness people were under the impression when he was here that they'd have him fit for about 15 or 16 of December - now he won't be fit until the end of January because his injury has been exacerbated by going back to Hull City."
