Mr. Ryan has shown 11 red cards this season, averaging one every 2½ games.

He refereed this very fixture in 1999, and he certainly left his mark. Lee Bracey was sent off 6 minutes before half time, and Gregor Rioch converted the penalty. City played the rest of the game with Matt Baker in goal making his debut, and Macc eventually won it in the 88th minute through a Paul Ware goal (read more on this game here).

City have yet to have him this season, but for Macclesfield it will be the fourth time that he has officiated one of their games.

The first was on the opening day of the season when he booked three players in their 3-1 defeat to Swansea.

He next took charge of the Silkmen's home FA Cup tie with Forest Green Rovers. The non-league side were awarded two penalties, with Steve Wilson saving the first only to concede from the rebound, while Cooper converted the second eight minutes from time. Impey was sent off for the visitors in stoppage time for a second bookable offence.

The last was on Boxing Day for the clash with Halifax at Moss Rose. The Shaymen had Woodward sent off for retaliating after being fouled. The home side won a point with a last minute goal from Smith.

City haven't had Mr. Ryan for 11 months, when he took charge of the game at Cardiff. John Eyre was sent off a minute before half time for a second bookable offence, and the Bluebirds went on to win 2-0.
