Republic of Ireland international McShane, 25, made 10 appearances for the Tykes after arriving at Oakwell on loan in mid-February, scoring one goal.
Robins said: "He's been a real competitor. He's done everything that's been asked of him, the only blemish was the sending off.
"He came in to tide us over while Steve Foster was out - Steve's back in now so he'll come back into the fold."
McShane will not be available for Hull manager Nigel Pearson for the home clash with Middlesbrough this weekend after being sent off in his final game for the Tykes at Boro last Saturday.
