Robinson was a Darlington trainee, making 35 appearances for the first team. Newcastle paid a quarter of a million pounds for him in 1998, but made few starts at St. James' Park before moving down to Wimbledon in 2000 for over £1million.
He has failed to establish himself with the Dons, making only 6 appearances in nearly two years there, and has been loaned out to Burnley and Dundee United.
