Simpson, 22, scored his first goals for Hull since arriving from Arsenal for an undisclosed fee in August in the 2-0 home win over Bristol City.
Simpson said: "I'm delighted to get off the mark and it's been a long time coming.
"When you've been going through a drought, you need chances like that one (for the first goal) to come along to help build the confidence back up.
"It's great to get my first goals in front of the home fans as well because they have been really patient with me and great ever since I came here.
"After I got the first goal, I was always looking to get another so I was delighted that the second came along. I was slightly disappointed that I didn't get a third, but I'm not going to complain and it's good to get off the mark."
