Smith Shipped Out Again

The 32-year-old left back played 7 games for Stockport County during a month's loan spell, before returning to City. He then made his first competitive appearance in a Tigers shirt since last season, but was substituted half-way through the LDV Trophy win at Darlington after failing to impress.

He now goes to the Division Three's basement team Carlisle United, as Peter Taylor confirms: "He's going to go to Carlisle for a month. Dennis Booth phoned me, who's an ex-Hull player and a good friend of mine, and he's gone there as assistant manager.
"It would be great for Shaun because he's not playing league football here, and it's an opportunity for him to go there for a month, play some games and hopefully go and get some results against some teams that are against us."

The former Halifax and Crewe defender could make his debut in the Cumbrians' game against Scunthorpe at Brunton Park tomorrow.

Losing one left-back is unlikely to affect Taylor's decision to let youngsters Steve Burton and Nathan Peat go out on loan as he already has a number of left-footed defenders in his first team squad.
