However, the ex-Bolton, Wigan and Motherwell centre back is now set to join Bury on a two-month loan deal.
Tigers manager Peter Taylor said he is "relaxed" about the situation and added: "Going to Bury on loan may give him a better opportunity of playing at first team level and I certainly won't stand in his way if that's what he wants. It would be a two month loan deal and we'd look at things again after that."
