The Shrimpers skipper was a player that Peter Taylor had revealed an interest in, but he says that no offer will be made to the out-of-contract player:
"Kevin's a player I really like but I've got players here who are quite like him in style.
"I have two players who can slot into a holding role in midfield and that's how I see Kevin."
Taylor has already pinched Leon Cort on a free transfer from Southend, and with the signing of Michael Keane from Preston and the imminent arrival of Junior Lewis, Maher is no longer a player City would need.
