Stewart took part in contact training at the start of this week, taking the next step in his rehabilitation from the ligament damage he suffered in February. He will go to the capital on Wednesday to make sure there has not been any adverse reaction.
"This was the week we had always planned for Cameron to get back into contact training," City physio Liam McGarry told the club's official website.
"He goes down to see the surgeon, Andy Williams, in London and hopefully he will get the all clear. He will have two weeks of full contact training and then hopefully we will see him playing some part in a reserve-team game.
"When they do non-contact training they know they have that little bit of leeway, that bit of extra time on the ball. Now he is at the point where he realises he is going to have to take a little bit of a kick to see how he responds.
"He has been doing all the tricks and step-overs in the last couple of weeks and that's him all over. I think the rest of the lads are ready to get back at him now!"
