They trailed to Hartlepool, but turned it around in the second leg at Prenton Park last night. Ryan Taylor gave them hope with a 70th minute free kick, and former Hull City winger David Beresford, who had been brought on as a substitute for another ex-Tiger Ian Goodison, levelled the tie on aggregate with a goal 3 minutes from time.
Neither side found the net in extra time so it went to penalties. Both scored five from their first six, but Hartlepool keeper Dimitrios Konstantopoulos saved from Ian Sharps. Richie Humphries scored their seventh to put them through.
They will play Sheffield Wednesday in the Final on Sunday 29th May. The Owls won 2-1 at Brentford on Monday to give them a 3-1 aggregate win.
