Alan Rogers wasn't expected to be fit yet, having joined from Nottingham Forest last month without playing first team football since May. However, he starts at left back and wears number 31.
The other full back will be Alton Thelwell, who hasn't played for even longer. His last appearance was in October 2004 for City.
Transfer listed defender Robbie Stockdale is recalled to the bench as cover for the pair.
Midfielder Mark Noble plays, making his Tigers debut wearing the number 11 shirt. He's partnered by Keith Andrews, who wears the captain's armband for the first time.
Stuart Elliott drops to the bench, with Kevin Ellison switching flanks. On the right will be either Craig Fagan or Billy Paynter. Which ever doesn't play on the wing will partner Jon Parkin up front. Darryl Duffy is on an attack-minded subs bench.
John Welsh drops out of the squad completely, as does the suspended Ryan France. Mark Lynch and Scott Wiseman remain in the wilderness.
