He made his feelings clear in his post-match interview: "We can't blame anyone but ourselves. From minute one we were outfought and we didn't win 50/50 challenges and we came second best in all areas of play.
"Our passing was nowhere near good enough and we lacked shape, I could have got 11 people off the street, chucked them on and they probably would have played about as well as we have done tonight.
"We were totally outfought tonight, it was men against boys but they totally beat us up and played better football than us tonight so they thoroughly deserve their victory."
"We got more than we deserved tonight because we scored a goal and we didn’t really deserve to score."
Conversely, stand-in City manager Billy Russell was delighted with the way his side played, picking up three points for the first time in almost a month.
He said: "In terms of work ethic and commitment the players were magnificent and I couldn't have asked for anymore.
"Their attitude was also spot on and the way they've responded to the events of the past week has been tremendous.
"The only criticism I'd have is that we didn't keep the ball as well as we should have done at times during the second half and that's something we'll look at ahead of Saturday.
"It'll be another difficult game for us and we have to make sure that we adopt the same approach and attitude."
