Welsh missed Saturday's game against Cardiff with an ankle injury, which has turned out to be ligament damage. He's expected to be out for 4 to 6 weeks.
Barmby could also miss the forthcoming trip to his former club Leeds United. He limped off in the second half against Cardiff with a groin strain. He was replaced by Michael Bridges, who scored after coming on. Brown says that if Barmby doesn't play at Elland Road, it should allow him to be 100% fit for the Boxing Day clash with Leicester at the KC Stadium.
Brown rates both Barmby and Parkin as "50/50" to face Leeds. Parkin's been out with an ankle ligament injury since last month.
Brown will definitely be in charge for the game, though Adam Pearson may replace him with former West Brom and Nottingham Forest manager Gary Megson afterwards. Brown says he may need to approach the game with more caution than the attacking display against Cardiff that resulted in a 4-1 win.
