Player Ratings: Hull City 2-4 Southampton

Last updated : 02 December 2006 By Andy Beill
Boaz Myhill (7) - Attempted to use his defenders a bit more with his clearances when they were available.

Sam Ricketts (6) - Nothing new to say - still just doesn't look as good on the right as on the left.

Damien Delaney (7) - Still not a left-back, but did his best and even managed to get involved in a few moves down the left.

Danny Coles (6)

Michael Turner (6)

Dean Marney - If it wasn't an injury, his substitution was a strange one. He did get beaten once or twice on his flank, but surely you expect that if you play him in that position?

Stuart Elliott (7) - Gave it his all, got in decent positions, but it didn't happen today.

Ian Ashbee (5) - Fans were calling for him to return after his absence on Tuesday, and although he got a boot in once or twice, he gave the ball away far too much and was the main instigator when there was poor play.

David Livermore (6) - Should have cleared the ball before losing it for the first goal, but when the crowd are cheering every pass and booing every clearance, you can understand why. Should have been substituted straight away when he got injured as this left us down to 10 men when we conceded the third goal.

Nick Barmby (7) - Worked hard. Was involved in one of the best moves of the game in the 7th minute, playing a simple ball to Fagan on the left wing before sprinting to make a late run into the 6 yard box where the cross arrived but he had to stretch to connect. Deserved his goal.

Craig Fagan (7) - Inspirational amount of effort, which was evident in chasing every ball to the line. Deserved his goal, which came from not giving up on a loose ball.

Subs
Ryan France (6) - Unlucky with an early second half shot, but overall just looked like a lower league player. Sloppy passes possibly a result of a lack of confidence, not helped by hostile sections of the crowd.

Nicky Forster - Unlucky to be dropped after scoring on Tuesday, but might not have benefited from the way we were playing.

John Welsh - Should have been straight on when Livermore got injured, and could have filled the gap left.
