Danny Coles (6) - Drifted in a bit but was totally exposed by lack of cover from his right winger so can't blame him too much for their constant attacks down his side of the defence.
Leon Cort (7) - Nothing spectacular but didn't really put a foot wrong - good performance. Won everything in the air and was desperately unlucky not to score.
Damien Delaney (6) - Didn't really let anything past him so did a sound defensive job, but showed the same inadequacies as Saturday when he had the ball. Myhill had a go at him a couple of times for putting the ball into touch instead of passing it back to him. When he did keep the ball in play he usually hoofed it straight to an opposition defender.
Roland Edge (5) - Started well with a couple of good tackles, but had a stinker in the second half. Failed to keep his position a few times, allowing their right winger a free run. A lack of concentration it seems. Again, in the second half there was an occassion when City were attacking down the left and Elliott was totally lacking in support as Edge was still hanging around inside his own half. Doesn't do anything Dawson can't.
Jason Price (5) - Showed unbelievable disregard for his defensive duties. Wednesday constantly found themselves attacking down the left with two players up against Coles on his own. Price was usually hanging around infield or up front. His attacking play was actually quite good, and he did brilliantly to set up the chance for himself - shameful that he couldn't finish it though. Ryan France needed back in the team if only to keep our shape on the right hand side.
Ian Ashbee (8) - My man of the match for the second game running. He got stuck in in the middle, kept possession, and saved our bacon a few times. When we were desperate for someone to jump in and clear, it was always Ashbee.
Keith Andrews (6) - Didn't notice him too much, he did a decent enough job though. May have been better suited to the QPR game than this one.
Stuart Elliott (5) - Very disappointing. Every time he got the ball he had a first time shot when sometimes there were better options. Only one or two actually required a save from their keeper. We did win a few corners from them getting deflected out though. He missed what was probably our best chance of the game. Of all people you'd expect him to find the net, he did it over 20 times last season with similar chances. Didn't cover his left back much either.
Craig Fagan (7) - Probably our best player in the first half. Looked threatening cutting in from the wing and working outside the box - one time this resulting in a goal. Second half he faded away though. Perhaps didn't work as well with McPhee as he did with Barmby.
Nick Barmby (7) - Superbly calm finish for the goal. He hit the net before we had chance to panic. Seems to like playing at Hillsborough doesn't he! Worked hard at closing down players. This game definitely suited him more than the QPR game. His exit coincided with City's lack of momentum in the latter stages of the second half.
Steve McPhee (6) - Was too late for him. We'd already squandered our chances by the time he was on, and from then on we were under the cosh so he wasn't going to get much chance to do anything.
Stuart Green (5) - Welcome relief to see Jason Price substituted, but Green didn't do much of a better job. Didn't really have enough of the ball to contribute anything going forwards either. We need to find a better way to make the most of his talent in this division.
Ben Burgess (N/A) - Wasn't on for long and had little of the ball. The only times he did we didn't have enough players forward to support him so possession was lost. Match practice needed.
