A funny thought just came into my mind. I pondered on it long and hard. Then, I pondered a wee bit more before thinking to myself. You gotta go see a doctor.
It was "Why the hell is everyone giving up on this season when there are fifteen games still left to play." That's forty-five points to play for and a run of wins would propel the team right back into the play-off shake up.
But then reality set in and that's the sad part about everything that is going on the club at the moment.
You see, any other club, its chairman, its fans and its manager would say "Okay we are in a bad trot right now but we'll work hard and do everything we can to get out of it."
The truth is that everyone has given up the ghost and accepted that the season is over. Damn it all it is only early February for gods sake. There is a third of the season still to run.
Now I'm as passionate as the next man about the football club and I feel like getting a big stick and poking Adam Pearson and Peter Taylor in the ribs and saying: "How dare you give up this early?!"
SHUT UP, STOP TALKING DOOM AND GLOOM, ROLL YER SLEEVES UP AND GET ON WITH IT.
The awful thing about all of this defeatist talk is that it has transmitted itself to the players. Taylor has talked them down to such an extent that they now are frightened to play the game. Pearson has stomped around like a spoilt public schoolboy issuing this chairman's statement and that chairman's statement that it's starting to read like a weekly parish magazine.
My message to the fans is simple. If neither of them can show enthusiasm for the rest of the season then quit because I'm sick of the negative vibes and even more negative talk. Time to shut up and get on with doing the job they are paid very handsomely to do. If they can't do that, I repeat, get lost. I'm not interested in worthy statements about planning for next season. I want them to try harder this season.
