Well, that's it, or maybe almost, allowing for any foreign loans! I, personally, am happy that we are still actively seeking to recruit, rather than 'hope for the best with what we've got'. It is refreshing to see that we are trying to compete on the field, despite certain limitations with the squad. However, I feel we need to have a minimum of twenty points by the end of the next window, for our survival to realistically have any hope of materialising.
So far, short though the season has been before the first international break, like most people, I'm happy with what has been achieved, despite the walloping scoreline on Saturday. As long as our heads don't drop, we will be fine and Newcastle may not be as daunting as some might think, especially if the current reports from there are anything to go by.
I am wary of the bookies though! Don't forget they ALL wrote us off as relegation material and they are not often wrong, and this afternoon, one of their favourite markets has already been fruitful, that Mr. Curbishley has already walked. I wonder how many backed Phil Brown or Tony Pulis or Tony Mowbray to go first?
Let's hope we stand by our manager, no matter what (within reason). The football merry go round is already starting and let me just remind everybody: how close was Alex Ferguson to the big 'heave ho' all those years ago, at Manchester United? Love them or hate them, we would all like that success, wouldn't we?
The final word has to be on our possible success with youngsters. It was great to see Liam Cooper anounced, at seventeen, as a fully paid up member of the Tigers squad and hopefully, Nicky Featherstone will continue to develop, so the future may now get even rosier... locally!
