Hull City clinched a 1-0 victory in this top of the table clash against Swansea thanks to Stuart Elliott's 27th minute header. Indeed so many home fans flocked to the KC Stadium to see Hull go back to the top of Division Three that kick off had to be cut back 15 minutes and 2,000 were turned away.
The Swans did have their moments, hitting the woodwork twice, but could not break down a City side which is looking more confident with every match.
They controlled much of the first half, and after seven minutes, Danny Allsopp hit the side netting.
On 16 minutes, a 20 yard overhead kick from Ben Burgess forced a great save from Roger Freestone, who acrobatically tipped it over.
Great work on the left by Andy Dawson and Elliot then saw a good period of pressure by the Tigers, with Elliott forcing a save from Freestone with a low 20 yard shot.
In the 27th minute, Elliott scored with a bullet header straight from Dawson's corner, which Freestone was powerless to save.
Seconds later, Nugent brought a good save from Musselwhite with a strong volley which was beaten away, and the Hull keeper saved another effort from Britton just before the break.
Minutes into the second half, Robinson hit the right post with a low shot which beat the diving Musselwhite.
After 53 minutes, a header from Allsopp from point-blank range was superbly blocked by Freestone.
Ten minutes later, Lee Trundle had a shot blocked by Musselwhite and two minutes later, Izzy Iriekpen hit the crossbar as the Swans began to gain in confidence.
But it seemed certain that they were not going to get anything out of the game after Richard Duffy was sent off for a nasty challenge on Elliott eight minutes from time.
